The Luke Gregerson Charity Bowling Event is designed to bring more awareness to the struggles that young people have after aging out of foster care and to create more resources for the many significant needs that foster youth have.

Luke grew up in a large family with lots of aunts, uncles, and first cousins.  His aunt, Patricia Obosla Katz, opened up her home to many youth in the community that were less fortunate, including Antwan Turpeau.  At the age of 16, Patricia offered to be Antwan’s permanent foster parent and  Luke and Antwan began a close relationship as foster cousins.

Today, Antwan Turpeau has a Masters Degree in Social Work from Loyola University of Chicago, and is Co-Founder and Executive Director for a charitable organization called SYESA, pronounced “see-saw”, which means Struggling Youth Equals Successful Adults.  He and Luke want to help many youth around the country that have spent most of their lives in foster care.

Just in Time for Foster Youth mobilzes the San Diego community to provide the essential resources and relationships that create an extended family for youth transitioning form the foster care system at 18.

Proceeds for this event will benefit both SYESA and Just in Time for Foster Youth.
